Well-grown and massive sound! Westerly factory-made D-55!"

The D-55, Guild's flagship dreadnought model, was once used by Yosui Inoue in Japan and Dewey Bunnell in the U.S. In 1987, production was discontinued immediately after the name was changed to D-65, but was revived in 1990.
It was originally 25 1/2 scale, but after its revival, this particular model uses 25 5/8 scale. The G-shield inlay on the headstock and the V-block inlay on the fingerboard have been carried over, creating a high-end look. Currently, U.S.A. Guilds are made in Oxnard, California, but this one was made in Westerly, Rhode Island. Compared to the current model, it is heavier and has a more profound sound.
The guitar has been refretted, the nut has been raised, and two cracks on the top have been fixed (one on the first string side from the side of the fingerboard to the sound hole, and the other on the pickguard edge between the second and third strings) at a repair store we are affiliated with. There are some dents, scratches, weather checks, partial paint clouding and deterioration, paint peeling at the head butt ends and sound hole edges, dulling and peeling of the plating on metal parts, and a history of saddle replacement, but these are all within the range of use and aging commensurate with the age of the instrument.
The neck is in proper condition. The truss rod has been confirmed to operate more than 60 degrees to the left and right, but the tightening direction feels a little hard to turn. Both playability and sound are perfect.
It has a very rich sound. The balance between the bass, which resonates in the belly when picking, and the treble, which resonates gently but firmly in the ear, is exquisite. The sustain is also sufficient. This guitar has both power and flexibility. Guild's products are relatively inexpensive compared to rival brands' products. We recommend this guitar.
